DevOps Engineer

Job Description:

SavingStar is seeking an experienced DevOps engineer to help us administer our various web/application serving environments. This position involves maintaining, monitoring, and upgrading production and testing systems. Our environments are composed of primarily Ubuntu Linux based servers running on bare metal as well as virtualized environments. The system is composed of a combination of Ruby on Rails and Java applications working together through nginx load balancers to serve web and mobile applications developed in house. Our team also provides support for internal source control, testing, and security systems, as well as support to our internal users when issues arise for them.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer Linux based production and testing web serving environments for a growing startup organization
  • Maintain and upgrade primarily Ubuntu Linux based web and application servers
  • Maintain and upgrade production and testing SQL and NoSQL database systems
  • Work closely with developers to expand and optimize our systems and applications
  • Provide support to our local and remote internal users for Mac desktops, applications, and hosted business systems
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle, from requirements to development to production support and troubleshooting

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years hands on experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred) in a live serving environment
  • Experience with bash (or other shell) scripting to automate systems functions
  • Experience with database systems administration and maintenance (Oracle, MySQL, and/or MongoDB preferred)
  • Experience with issue tracking systems such as Jira
  • Strong team skills and a desire to learn and expand your knowledge
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, agile, startup environment


Customer Service Representative

Job Summary:
We are looking for a great communicator who is smart, tech savvy and who can help us bring our vision of digital grocery promotions to life. The job will require you to take on a broad array of roles, including:

  • Respond to customer service emails, calls and Facebook posts
  • Manage the customer service queue to ensure compliance with SavingStar’s stated service levels
  • Research customer issues and escalate to management as necessary
  • Identify process improvements, and work with product team to implement
  • Identify product enhancements based on customer feedback

Requirements:

  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Solid relationship management skills
  • Prior customer service experience a plus, especially in 3rd party services to the grocery industry
  • Ability to remain calm, courteous and professional even when faced with angry or impatient customers
  • Comfortable with web applications & social media
  • Very diligent on workflow & time management and have a strong eye for detail
  • HTML, Powerpoint, Excel & Photoshop skills a plus but not required
  • Desire to grow up with the company and expand into other roles

QA Automation Engineer

Job Description:

SavingStar is seeking a mid level Software QA Automation Engineer to help us transition the world away from paper based coupons to the digital couponing future. If scaling a service to millions of users sounds like fun and you enjoy a fast-paced, flexible environment with challenges to spare, this is the job for you.

This position primarily involves working on automating the functional testing of the web, API and mobile app using Java and scripting techniques. This is also a great opportunity to learn Ruby web development and its use as a testing language. Creativity is the key to our success as we work together with all stakeholders to continually find new ways to improve our quality and overall customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop functional expertise in all areas of the product
  • Create and maintain automation tests that will enable better user and partner experience
  • Work to minimize repetitive manual testing by identifying high-ROI test cases and automating them to create value
  • Be proactive, enthusiastic and willing to learn some cool tricks and cutting edge technology
  • Manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic, agile work environment
  • Help ensure functionality delivered is adequately tested and passes exit criteria
  • Contribute to test data creation, loading and performance testing activities

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with Java, JUnit/TestNG, JDBC, SQL queries
  • Understanding and experience testing REST APIs using Java based client or tools
  • Linux navigation and some scripting
  • Familiarity with Jira, Jenkins, virtual machines, XML, JSON
  • Basic understanding of Agile processes and use of source control systems such as Git

Nice to have:

  • Experience in automation of mobile applications
  • Web performance, security testing experience
  • Familiarity with Ruby, NoSQL concepts – MongoDB

About you:

  • BS/MS in CS/engineering; 5+ years professional experience
