Here are two recipes on one page both using onions. First try out the Grilled Beef Tri-Tip with a super yummy Caramelized 3 Onion Sauce. Filled with flavor for sure. Then use some red onions and create some Mojo Beef Kabobs. Make them for a dinner party to give your guests a variety or make each recipe outside in the sunshine on the grill 2 different days.
So Very Blessed – French Onion Cheeseburger
Our author Becky takes the classic flavors of French onion soup and puts them together with a juicy burger (and you don’t have to deal with the soggy bread on top). Can it get any better? Well, yes actually. She uses Gruyere which is one of my favorite nutty and sharp cheeses. The onions are literally like candy on a burger. So delicious. This will be on my menu next time we do burger night!
Cooking on the Weekends – Caramelized Onions
One of the best things you can do with onions is caramelize them. Here’s a wonderful and easy recipe for the classic caramelized onion. What can you do with them? Well, they go great on top of burgers, in pasta dishes, on top of your favorite sandwich, on top of a steak or as a garnish for just about any dish. There is a ton you can do so read the recipe and let us know what you like to do with them.
lemon tree dwelling – Balsamic Roasted Vegetable Salad
This salad has it all, including a roasted vegetable mix with crunchy red onion, salty feta cheese and tangy balsamic vinegar dressing. That made my mouth water! Best part is the oven does all the roasting work and all you have to do is chop, season and put it all together. So fresh and delicious!
Stockpiling Moms – Crockpot Rump Roast with Onions
The ladies Melissa and Shelley at Stockpiling Moms always have a great array of recipes using that favorite kitchen tool of mine – the crockpot – and here is another good one. I love making rump roast, pot roast or any type of roast and especially in the crockpot. Onions are always the perfect seasoning vegetable as well. This recipe has a ton of flavor with little work from you. Great for those lazy Sundays or weekdays when you can spend 15 minutes getting it together and letting your trusty crockpot do the rest of the work!
Stockpiling Moms – Chicken with Butternut Squash, Pears & Cranberries
This chicken dish takes advantage of all those warm, sweet and savory bits you can put it together for one balanced great flavor. Chicken can be boring so it’s often hard to find new recipes that kick up the flavor profile and juiciness. This one will give you everything as well as an easy way out of slaving over a hot stove. Try it out and let us know what you think. I know I can’t wait to try it.
Stockpiling Moms – Oven Roasted Chuck Roast with Onions
Beef and onions are such a perfect pair so here is another easy recipe. Only 4 ingredients are needed and yet those 4 ingredients will make a meal your family will ask for again and again. I really like the addition of using ranch dressing mix. All the flavors you need in one little packet. Once you get it all in the pot your oven will do the rest. Serve it up with your favorite mashed potato recipe or some corn on the side.
Culinary.net – Chipotle Burgers with Spicy Onions
Yum is all I can say about this burger and onion recipe. Not only do I like to spice up my food, I love letting everyone know that the key to a perfect burger is seasoning that ground beef! You can season it with whatever you want to give it an extra special burger flavor. Here we are using chipotle, cilantro and spice. The only thing I would add is some sharp cheddar or monterey jack cheese. I love cheese and have to add it to everything. Serve it up with some homemade crispy potato chips. See our potato recipe post for some ideas!
Dashing Dish – Marinated Chicken Fajita Kabob’s
This recipe caught my attention by the beautiful image. Made my mouth water the minute I saw it on Pinterest. I love fajitas so much and never thought to put them on a kabob over a tortilla. Serve up some tortillas on the side with spicy black beans and an array of condiments. Everyone will love digging in.
TheNibble – Pozole-Stuffed Onions
This recipe won the 2007 Annual Campfire Classic and sounds absolutely delicious! What’s not to like when you stuff onions with all sorts spices, cornbread, Poblano peppers and cheese. Perfect for grilling. Grab a nice bottle of Merlot or Cabernet to go along with it.
WannaBite – Skinny Bloomin Onion
We’ve all indulged in those deep fried onion blossoms that includes a creamy mayo based dipping sauce. This unfortunately, even if shared, has about the same calories and fat that one person would consume in an entire day. I found this recipe that satisfies the craving while cutting all the fat and calories. You use bran cereal for crunch and it is baked, not deep fried. There is even a spicy dipping sauce included.
QueenBee Coupons – Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Red Onions
This is super easy and really flavorful. If you have never roasted sweet potatoes before, you are in for a treat. They get a wonderful buttery texture and the onions and marinade infuse them with a sweet and savory mouthful of goodness. These would even be great on the grill wrapped in tin foil or using a grill basket. Marinate the night before for optimal infusion of flavor.
oh my veggies – Apple Cheddar Pizza Caramelized Onions and Walnuts
What a wonderful combination of flavors. Might seem a little different to most and putting it on a pizza even a little stranger, but the flavors will have you going back for more and more. This will become one of your favorite go to summer appetizers or even a main course.
The Kitchn – Braised French Onion Chicken with Gruyere
This combines that decadent and sweet French onion soup flavor with a beautifully braised piece of chicken. Braising makes the meat so moist and tender and infused with that lovely onion and herb broth. Top it all off with that lovely Gruyere! I’m in heaven.
Foodie crush – Avocado, Onion and Tomato Salad
I’ve given you a decent amount of heavy and hearty meals so far and thought we need to feature a light and fresh one as well. It doesn’t get any fresher than this tasty salad. It is healthy and light and will go great along side any great dish.
