Remember when you were a kid, and your mom or dad would rock your world by shaping (or at least trying to shape) your Saturday morning pancake into the first letter of your name?
Pancake creativity has come a long way since then. When I saw Bisquick’s eCoupon to save 50¢ on pancake mix, I decided to do a little searching for some neat ideas or products to take custom pancake preparation to the next level.
And I found a few cool ones, like these pancake molds from Williams Sonoma in the shapes of Star Wars and Cars 2.
I also saw how you could create a neat doily-esque pancake with a steady hand and a Pancake Pen, shown below.
But one link I followed mesmerized me. I came across this article in the Huffington Post about Nathan Shields, a math teacher turned stay-at-home-dad who is an INCREDIBLE pancake artist. The images in the article were so impressive that I hopped over to his own personal blog, where he’s posted literally hundreds of pictures of his pancake creations. Forget Facebook or Pinterest – for your next online timesuck, I suggest you go make a visit to Saipancakes.com. It’s truly amazing what this man can do with a baster and some Bisquick.
I kind of feel compelled to at least try my hand at pancake artistry the next time pancakes are on the menu at our house. If you feel the same way, and are able to take a picture of your own pancake creation, post it to our Facebook wall! We’d love to see it!
Now go ahead and hop over to Saipancakes.com. Enjoy your next few minutes of pancake appreciation.
